The exhaust back box, which is a rear muffler, has the purpose to limit the sound generated by the gas as it passes through the exhaust system. It is located at the very end of the exhaust line and it is the most common muffler on cars.
Usually, the exhaust back box can last more than 80,000km. Depending on the way you use your car, the exhaust back box can wear out faster. If you are mainly using your car for short trips, the temperature of the backbox won’t get high regularly, which will lead to condensation, and this may cause corrosion.
If you notice cracks, or significant noise when speeding up, the back box is probably faulty. You can visually check the part yourself: If you see that the corrosion has damaged the exhaust back box and caused holes, it is necessary to replace the back box as soon as possible.
